I’m Zoe Yu.
I’m a writer and student based in Boston, Massachusetts.
I’ve written about weight-loss influencers in the age of Ozempic for The New York Times Magazine, illiberalism on college campuses for CNN, and why everyone wants a job at McKinsey for Slate. I’m also an opinions intern at The Boston Globe, where I write a column about internet culture.
At Harvard, I study Public Thinking, a self-designed major that asks how political ideas are expressed and contested in writing. That’s a fancy way of saying that I’m fascinated by why some arguments persuade and others fail. On campus, I’m a member of The Harvard Crimson’s Editorial Board and the Harvard Political Review.
In past lives, I read movie scripts for Hollywood producer Janet Yang and judged The New York Times Learning Network’s opinion writing contest.
